Bio

Jiajie Zeng was born and raised in Guangzhou, China. He considers digital media art as an art performance that not only closely connects to the digital era but also is the combination of art and the newest technology, which can provide the freshest experience to the audience and break the stereotype of the art performance. He mainly concentrates on game design, 3D modeling, and interactive design. He believes that a 3D environment could provide a similar or more experience than reality to different senses through emulating reality or creating something that doesn’t exist in reality, which can stimulate people’s imagination and eyes.

Artist Statement

My creative inspiration is usually those thoughts that pass by in the blink of an eye. When I stay by myself, I will do some meditation. At this time, some thoughts randomly fly through my mind, and I will use pen and paper to record them for future creation and use. I will use those recorded inspirations to create artwork to express my thoughts and emotions at that moment. I would like to use pictures or 3D modeling to express the images or scenes in my mind because I think that what people see is closely related to emotions, so as to awaken the audience's deep subconscious cognition of things. For example, when it is raining, people will feel melancholy; people will feel relaxed and quiet when they see green plants; people who see a frowning person will feel that this person is thinking or worrying about something. When I start creating an artwork, I would close my eyes and recall the feeling and emotion that the picture or scene gave me, and think about the core things and what made me feel this way. After finishing a draft, I will concentrate on strengthening those core things and feelings in the process of creation. I think it’s easier to convey my ideas to the audience and resonate more closely with them. I think how a picture or scene touches the audience's subconscious and emotions is a very interesting topic because it is also difficult for me to imagine how to use pictures or scenes to express people's emotions or more complex emotions. I will continue to learn and improve my work in this area so that my work will have a stronger connection and resonance with the audience. I am glad to share my whimsy with you.
